Summer Term 2019

Our brilliant Year 6 football team represented the school in the Danone U11 National Small Schools Football Finals at Birmingham City FC recently and WON it, we are now officially the Best Small Schools Football Team in England!! This is an incredible achievement and we are all bursting with pride for our children and our school. The team played absolutely brilliantly as they always do and thoroughly deserved the win.

Our Year 6's also won the Quad Kids Athletics Competition this week at Thomas A Beckett Junior School. This was a fantastic achievement, coming first out of 11 teams and will now be attending the Worthing Finals later this week.

Spring Term 2019

It has been an outstanding few months for success in Sport for English Martyrs this recent Spring Term. Our biggest achievement and proudest moment so far was our Year 6 boys Football Team reaching the Regional Finals representing the whole of Sussex. After playing several challenging matches against other county teams we finished in 2nd place and are now through to the National Finals in May to represent the whole of the South-East at Birmingham City FC! This is an astounding achievement and we as a school could not be prouder. To read more please click on the links below-.

However this is not the only success our Year 6s have had this term, the boys Football Team also came joint 1st with TAB recently at the West Park Football Tournament followed by our two Year 6 Girls Football Teams also finishing in 1st and 2nd place. The year also entered in a Cricket Tournament and Basketball Tournament finishing in 3rd place in both competitions.

Year 4s kicked off the term finishing in 3rd place in their Football League missing the final by just two points! They also entered the Orchards Gymnastics Competition, the boys finished in 2nd place and the boys and girls finished in 3rd place overall, after weeks off training their hard work really did pay off. The year then entered into the Indoor Athletics Competition held at Durrington High School and finished in 2nd place, a fantastic result!

Years 2 brought home a brand new shiny trophy after winning their Indoor Athletics Competition, coming 1st place out of eight schools, another trophy to add to the cabinet.

Finishing off the Spring Term fourteen KS2 dancers performed at the Time to Dance week at the Worthing Pavilion, performing a modern contemporary piece of dance to 'Just Like Fire' by Pink to a packed audience. They all performed beautifully and made the school incredibly proud of them, it was a fantastic evening and a superb end to the term.

We look forward to continuing this success in the Summer Term.

Autumn Term 2018

Over the Autumn Term we had some very successful results in school competitions. Our Year 6 Boys won the Worthing CV Football League after winning all nine games because of this we were then invited to play in the County Finals, we played four games and went through to the finals with a 100% record. The Final game ended 0.0 and therefore went to penalty's which we won!! We are now through to the Regional Finals in London which will be playing in the New Year.

Our Year 6 girls reached the netball league finals and finished in third place out of sixteen schools, they also came third out of nine schools competing in a football tournament at St Andrews.

Year 5 recently played in a Benchball Competition and came second. Years 1 and 2 have been training very hard for the past six weeks and recently competed in a Gymnastics Competition to come first out of ten schools.

We also had a visit from Sid the shark, Sussex County Cricket Club’s mascot. Sid kindly offered to open our new play equipment to the children at the school. To read more about this please click on the link below.

It was a very rewarding Autumn Term.
