All Clubs CANCELLED until further notice.
Having considered advice from Government, National Governing Bodies and a number of colleagues and Headteachers re COVID-19, we have taken the decision to postpone ALL before and after school clubs week beginning 16th March 2020 until further notice.
The situation will be reviewed again after the Easter break and we will keep you informed as to the plans moving forward for the Summer Term and beyond.
We appreciate your support and patience with this decision.
We have a range of Sports Clubs on offer at English Martyrs throughout the week. Most of our clubs are free and are run by our Sports Coach Mrs Cleary. External clubs however do charge a fee, to find out more information on this please email them directly, this information can be found below.

Year 4 Gymnastics Training This club is invite only to those children training for the Gymnastics Competition. Children would have been selected for this competition after competing in trials with Mrs Cleary in their PE lessons. The children with the highest score across years 4 would have been selected.

Football A great opportunity to become a part of the EM football team, representing the school in the Football League, cup and many more tournaments. Football is an inclusive game that anyone, of any age, can easily learn and enjoy. Our football club is on offer to years 4-6, boys and girls welcome. This club is run by Mrs Cleary & Mrs Greeney. |

Netball (Not on through Spring Term) Attending netball club is also another opportunity for children to become a part of an EM Sports team, like football we also participate in a Netball League. Although netball is a non-contact sport, it is fast-paced and intensive game. Netball club is currently on offer to only years 5 & 6 however in the new year we intend to open this up to years 3 & 4 too. This club is run by Mrs Hodson. |
Street Dance (External Club) Classes are fun and friendly and children work towards performances at the end of term and occasionally at other venues throughout the year. Children have the opportunity to learn new skills and build confidence whilst making new friends. Cheerleading This is a great opportunity for children to develop self confidence as well as athleticism. Having a team to support and rely on can make children feel truly connected at school. Learning to master very difficult moves, assist teammates and perform dance, tumbles, stunts and jumps.
This club will be returning in the new year and will be run by our British Cheerleading qualified coach Mrs Cleary. |

Jump Start Jonny You won’t find a more excitable, more enthusiastic, more energetic person than Jonny! He makes fitness so much fun! He gets kids fit – as a qualified fitness instructor, Jonny’s videos don’t just get kids more active – they get kids fit! Jonny’s videos are proven to help children concentrate better in the classroom. Mrs Cleary runs this club on a Tuesday lunchtime in the year 4 classsroom. FUTSAL (Not running during Spring Term 2) Futsal is an exciting, fast-paced small sided football game that is widely played across the world. The nature of the game places a large emphasis on technical skill and ability in situations of high pressure, and is subsequently an excellent breeding ground for football competencies. Futsal is a five-a-side game, normally played on a flat indoor pitch with hockey sized goals and a size 4 ball with a reduced bounce. EM will be entering the first ever school girls futsal competition in November 19. This club will be starting after the October half-term and will be run by Mrs Cleary. |
Tennis (External Club) The West Worthing Club is a successful, welcoming Community Amateur Sports Club that is a centre of excellence for tennis and provides a top-quality environment that is affordable and attractive to everyone, regardless of age or background, and enables a wide range of people to play their chosen sport at all levels, maintain their physical fitness and socialise. Sessions take place every Tuesday after school on the playground. There is a £30 charge for this club for a six week course. Albion Football (External Club) Albion in the community currently run two after school clubs at our school, one for years 1 & 2 and the other for years 3 & 4. Premier Sports Ball Games These sessions are multi skills based and are aimed at improving fundamental skills through fun, fitness, games and activities. Sama Karate (External Club) Our fun exercise program is no secret, it’s based on many years of learning how to communicate with children of all ages and levels. Within the SAMA system, children enjoy what would be boring and tedious exercise. Cosmic Kids Yoga
Yoga, mindfulness and relaxation for kids. Interactive adventures which build strength, balance and confidence. This club is available to years 3 and 4 every Thursday lunchtime and is run by Mrs Cleary.
Time To Dance Every year English Martyrs take part in the 'Time to Dance' showcase at the Worthing Pavillion. This is an excellent opportunity for the children to experience dancing on a stage that is regularly used for professional productions and is a real highlight in the school year. Children create solo dance routines and perform these at the EM dance auditions. They are then selected on their ability to dance and put through to the time to dance squad, they will then train with our choreographer Mrs Cleary in the lead up to the showcase. |

All Star Soccer (External Club) We are All Star Soccer WSX and we are a football academy that has set up in the local area. It was formed by Jamie Howell and Adam Hinshelwood who simply believe that there should be more players from our local area playing at a higher standard of football either in the professional game or at a higher level in non league. They are looking at developing players whose current managers, coaches, or parents who feel their children have the ability and dedication to play and develop at a higher level and would benefit from specialist coaching. Jamie Howell (retired professional footballer) will be running after school football on Thursdays after-school for years 5 and 6. There will be a charge for this club. Gymco (External Club) Gymco introduces children to the exciting sport of gymnastics. Sessions are structured, fun and safely run by qualified British Gymnastics coaches. Programmes are carefully planned each week to offer variety and give stimulus to the child’s physical and social development. Activities include warm up, hand apparatus, fun gym stations, incorporating basic gymnastics and body management skills and co-ordination. To end there is a cool down section and gymnasts are awarded with stickers for achievement. Gymnastics (Returning after the Easter Holidays) Providing children with the chance to learn new gymnastics skills while having fun. Teaching the fundamentals of gymnastics, including skills such as forward and backward rolls, handstands and cartwheels. We all know that children are very energetic and want to flip and somersault, so we teach them skills that they can use to progress onto more challenging moves. Within these sessions all children will work through the British Gymnastics Award Scheme and we aim to encourage all members, whatever their level of ability and experience, to fulfil their potential in an enjoyable but disciplined way.
