Anti-bullying and positive relationships
We are proud to be taking part in the Anti-Bullying Alliance’s United Against Bullying programme, a structured whole-school programme that helps schools review, strengthen and evaluate their approach to preventing and responding to bullying. We started this is Autumn 2025 and will review the project, evaluate the impact and decide our next steps at the end of the Autumn term 2026.
Our initial pupil, staff and parent surveys in Autumn 2025 gave us an important starting point. They did not suggest that our main priority should be simply stopping bullying and many children responded positively about our work on this. Instead, they gave us an insight that what we wanted to do was to strengthen every child’s sense of belonging, inclusion and connection within our school community.
This does not mean that we are complacent about bullying. We remain completely clear that bullying is unacceptable and that concerns must be noticed, reported and addressed consistently. Our action plan therefore combines strong systems for prevention and response with positive work to help every child feel known, valued and included.
Over the course of the programme, we will:
- strengthen pupil voice and children’s understanding of bullying;
- review our policy, reporting procedures and staff training;
- help children recognise how words and actions can affect others;
- promote positive relationships, inclusion and respect for difference;
- create further opportunities for children to build friendships and contribute to school life;
- repeat our surveys and use the findings to measure the difference our work is making.
Our aim is not only to prevent bullying, but to proactively create a school culture in which every child confidently feels that: “I belong here.”
