1. Reading, Teaching and Assessment

Reading

We want every child to develop both the skill and the desire to become a confident reader, opening the door to learning across the curriculum.

• Building a stronger culture of reading for pleasure

High-Quality Teaching, Learning and Assessment

We want every child to experience clear, ambitious teaching that builds on what they already know and helps them achieve their best.

• Developing confident and independent learners

2. Leadership and Governance

We want to make the best use of the skills and experience across our school community, with leaders and governors working together to move the school forward.

• Developing our Key Stage Leaders

• Following through agreed plans and priorities
• Strengthening governors’ involvement in evaluating our work

3. Inclusion and Support for Pupils

We want every child to be able to participate, make progress and experience success, whatever barriers they may face.

• Strengthening inclusive classroom practice
• Matching support closely to children’s needs
• Reviewing the impact of interventions
• Helping children become increasingly independent
• Continuing to develop The Nest

4. Wellbeing, Belonging and Positive Play

We want every child to feel safe, included and part of our community, with positive relationships and rich play experiences supporting wellbeing and learning.

• Developing creative and inclusive play through OPAL
• Continuing our United Against Bullying work
• Supporting children who find transitions difficult
• Using our £3,000 Thriving in Education grant to improve wellbeing

5. Continuous Provision in Early Years and Key Stage 1

We want to build on children’s strong Early Years experiences, giving them purposeful opportunities to apply learning, think independently and meet new challenges.

• Strengthening progression from Reception to Year 2
• Building on what already works well
• Connecting provision more closely with current and prior learning
• Developing independence, collaboration and problem-solving
• Preparing children confidently for their next stage
