  • Wednesday's Activities

Wed 31 Oct 2018 Mrs Benham

A lovely sunny day, at least a degree or two warmer than the last few days! (When the sun is out anyway).

More team challenges for one group, followed by kayaking.  The other group had more skiing and tobogganing. Great fun had by all.

Macaroni cheese and rolls for lunch.

  • Bowles Update for Wednesday

Wed 31 Oct 2018 School Office

Another great night's sleep- the children are so worn out by the activities, they all slept really well!

The children have all been swimming, built rafts and have enjoyed two sessions of skiing. The staff have been impressed by the resilience and determination the children have shown...qualities we really celebrate at English Martyrs.

Last night we enjoyed a roast dinner (lovely roast potatoes!) followed by oaty flapjacks.

They've had a delicious breakfast this morning before setting out for today's activities.

More updates to follow as we receive them.

  • Busy Busy at Bowles!

Tue 30 Oct 2018 Mrs Benham

The children are developing their communication skills this afternoon with team building games. They are working together to build and then race a raft. More great fun challenges for the children to enjoy!

Will they get their team across the pool first?

Will the raft survive the journey?!

  • Bowles Update for Tuesday

Tue 30 Oct 2018 School Office

The children have enjoyed baked potatoes for lunch after their morning of activities.

One group have mastered the ski lift - in the other group, a couple of children may need a little more practice! Mr Cousins, however, has mastered the ski lift, but not quite the skiing..... the only injury to report is the skinning of his forearm!

The children are having great fun (we're not so sure about Mr Cousins though!)

  • Tuesday Morning Update from Bowles

Tue 30 Oct 2018 Mrs Benham

We are pleased to report that both the children AND the adults all slept well last night!  It was an early start this morning but the children showered quickly as they were looking forward to their breakfast :)  Everyone is having a great time and are already feeling proud of their achievements.

    Mon 29 Oct 2018
Year 1 children had great fun as superheroes.
  • Another Update from Bowles

Mon 29 Oct 2018 Mrs Benham

The children are having a great time. They had spaghetti bolognaise for lunch with jam sponge for pudding. Now one group is developing their map reading skills through orienteering in the woods, whilst the others are getting booted ready for trying their hand at skiing! Great fun!

  • Bowles Update for Monday 29th October

Mon 29 Oct 2018 School Office

The children have arrived safely at Bowles and have accomplished their first challenge already - putting the bedding on their beds!  They are now having a tour of the Centre and are looking forward to the activities planned for after lunch.

Further updates throughout the week will be posted on the school website as and when we receive them.

  • A half-term painting party!

Fri 26 Oct 2018 Dr. Townsley
An enormous thank-you to our Body Shop volunteers, led by Ms. Zakrzewska, who have been in school this week giving our Year 1 and 2 toilets and cloakroom a much-needed coat of paint.  We've banished the blues and the whole area looks so much fresher and brighter now.  Thanks also go to Mrs. Wheeler, who came to join in, and to Ms. O'Malley who gave up a day of her holiday to come and start painting to ceiling in the Hub. I really can't begin to say how grateful we are, not only because it frees up our finances to spend more on the children, but also because it's this sort of community support that makes our school such a special, unique place.
  • 'Orange for Elliot' fundraising day

Fri 19 Oct 2018 School Office
Thank you so much to everyone for supporting our fundraising day in memory of Elliot.  We raised an incredible £444, and this money will be shared between Clic Sargent and Chestnut Tree House.
