Appeals

If your child is not offered a place at English Martyrs Catholic Primary School, Goring you have the right to appeal against that decision to an Independent Appeal Panel (set up in accordance with sections 88 and 94 of the School Standards and Framework Act 1998). Appeals must be made in writing and must set out the reasons on which the appeal is made.  Appeals should be made to the Admissions Appeal Clerk at the school address. Appeals should be lodged no later than 20 school days after the National Offer Day for primary schools (16 April 2022). Completed paperwork must be received by the school no later than 17 May 2022, and will be heard within 40 school days. The appeals system is operated independently from the school.  Parents/carers have the right to make oral representations to the Appeal Panel.

Late application appeals will be heard within 30 school days of the appeal being lodged.

In-year applications will be heard within 30 school days of the appeal being lodged.

Admissions to Early Years, September 2021

We know that choosing a school for your child is such an important decision, and one of the best ways to get to know a school is to visit.  Unfortunately, due to Covid-19 restrictions, we are able to host any visits to the school at this time so cannot hold our usual Open Day.

However, we are able to share with you a couple of films of our Early Years setting - the first is of how the classroom and outside area looks at the start of a typical day.  The next is of the setting in action with our current children.  These can be found in the Video Resource Centre, which is within the tab for 'Children'.

Admissions to all Year Groups

To apply for a place outside of the normal Admissions round, please telephone the school on 01903 502868, or email office@englishmartyrs.school for further information.

Although we are unable to offer visits in person at the moment, there is also lots of other information on the website that will give you a flavour of our school.  The weekly newsletters, which can be accessed via the home page, give you an insight into the day to day life of our school.  If you go to the Class Pages (again, under the 'Children' tab) you will be able to gain a picture of the learning opportunities that we give to the children and how learning develops throughout the school.

If you have a child with specific needs - who has an EHCP or if you are in the process of applying for one - and you feel that you need to see the school to know if it is the right setting for you, please call the office and speak to either Mrs Bevans or Mrs Angell who will be able to provide you with more information.
