Home learning task: Summer 1
The home learning task for this half term is to create a model of your favourite farm animal. It can be made of anything you like! Due in on Tuesday 14th May.
In Early Years our main focus for learning at home is reading. Your child will bring colour banded books home to read, suitable to their ability. These are changed weekly. We encourage you to read with your child every day. The more your child reads the more certificates they can gain. You will need to tick every time they read on the chart that you are given in your first week of starting school. You can tick every time your child reads or every time you read and the children answers questions about the book. The skills in reading are not just decoding but also comprehension, understanding what you or they have read. To communicate about your child’s reading you can write on Tapestry by adding an observation.
In addition to the decoding and comprehension side of reading. We also focus on reading and writing red words (cannot be segmented and blended). Here are the ones we are covering:
If you look at the school website under the Early Years section- current learning, you will see a link called Parent Leaflet EY. This has all the end of year expectations and can give you some good ideas on what to focus on at home. If your child needs some additional support, I (Miss Sacco) will provide you with the resources to support this at home. If there is anything you feel could help though, please feel free to meet with me and we can support this.
