Recently English Martyrs has made a pledge with The FA, supported by Barclays and Youth Sport Trust to grow girls football. We are committed and passionate about driving forward the vision to ensure “every girl has equal access to football in school by 2024” Our school has already put changes in place to really make a difference and be part of this movement. The pledge includes offering girls and boys equal Football opportunities in PE lessons and after school clubs and providing sessions for girls and boys to play in mixed teams together. Girls will also be given the opportunity to attend and represent the school regularly in girls football tournaments and competitions supported and organized by the WSSA. This is something we as a school have already been doing and wish to continue doing when we are able to return to the usual running of sports, clubs and competitions however in the meantime we would like to encourage all girls across the school to get involved in football and be a part of this movement. Show your support by sending us a footballing photo, this could be a photo of your child playing or wearing their favorite football shirt or even posing with their favorite football player. We will upload your pictures along with our pledge on our schools sports page. Together we can and we will make a difference for the future of girls football.
